Marty Wilde And His Wildcats Set To Rock Detling This June

Posted by on Apr 11, 2016

HE shot to fame nearly 60 years ago as one of Britain’s first home-grown rock ’n’ roll stars, and this summer Marty Wilde will bring those glory days back to the Garden of England as he plays an intimate set at Kent Event Centre. Along with his band The Wildcats, 1950s heart-throb Wilde will perform as part of a packed weekend of live music and comedy at the UK Summer Motorhome & Caravan Show – taking place on June 4-5. The weekend’s entertainment coordinator Rachel Hippey said: “With the likes of Tommy Steele and Cliff Richard, Marty was one of the leading names during the first generation of British rock ’n’ roll. “We’re thrilled to announce that he’ll be our Saturday headliner for what will be two superb nights of live acts.” Throughout the 1950s, Wilde sold out venues throughout the UK and appeared regularly on TV shows 6.5 Special, Oh Boy! and Boy Meets Girls. As rock ’n’ roll’s popularity began to decline in the 1960s, he forged ahead with an all-round career appearing in West End musicals and song writing for artists such as Lulu and Status Quo. In the 1980s, he masterminded a string of hits for daughter Kim Wilde including the 1984 release, Kids in America. Rachel added: “Showgoers can expect a trip down memory lane with renditions of Teenager In Love, Donna and Sea of Love which will get everybody up and dancing the night away. “Marty has never lost his love for music and he certainly hasn’t lost his touch… this is a must-not-miss opportunity to see him doing what he does best.” Party band Funky Monkey and comedians Jed Stone and Chris Britten complete the entertainment line-up, along with internationally renowned Michael Jackson tribute Navi – Friday’s headline act. The performances, which are exclusive to event campers, take place on the evenings of Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5, as part of the weekend-long caravan, camper van and motorhome exhibition. Camping packages start from £45 for two adults, with more information available from our EVENT PAGE. Buy tickets...
